Tips to save money booking Air

Book your ideal trip for
less |
With the price of fuel skyrocketing, finding the best airfare
deals has become increasingly challenging for travelers. It can
be exasperating and costly to book an airplane ticket,
especially if you are convinced that other passengers have
gotten a better deal than you.
If you are traveling on a budget, there is a
way to book an ideal trip for less cash. Flexibility can be a
great asset while trying to get a deal on air travel, and it is
those flexible travelers who typically wind up paying the
least.
There are numerous ways in which a traveler’s ability
to be flexible can pay off, including these important
points:
Departure Time - This is one of the most
important aspects of saving money on travel, as most people
don’t realize how much of a price difference it can make.
Although the savings can differ, many frequent travelers have
found that overnight flights (known as the “red eye”) and early
morning flights are often the most economical. If you are
willing to travel at odd hours, you might save some money.
The Day of the Week - Experienced travelers
recognize that it may be difficult and costly to fly on peak
days, such as Friday and Sunday. It can be much more expensive
to take a weekend trip, and people with flexible schedules
should consider traveling on less busy days such as Tuesday,
Wednesday or Saturday. These days and times can fluctuate from
one air carrier to another, and location to location, so check
with your local airport and airlines.
Advance Planning - It always pays to start
planning early, especially when it comes to saving money on
airfare. Although a few may still be available, those
last-minute breaks are becoming few and far between as more
people are trusting their travels to the skies. Airlines often
make use of booking windows that are one, two, or three weeks
ahead of the flight, and the ticket prices change in each
window.
To obtain the best deal, get into the widest
possible booking window that you can. If you want to use your
frequent flier miles, you should make your reservations as
early as possible. Seats on flights destined for popular
locations such as Hawaii or Europe are limited and generally
book up quickly.
Use Alternate Airports - The cost to fly in or
out of another airport in the same area can be very different.
It may be much cheaper to take advantage of an airport a bit
further away from home. You should check out the fares at
multiple airports in your area to look for the best
rates.
